The end of August brings a lot of fresh vegetables and a few weeks ago I tried my hand at fresh salsa. A friend told me that she made it, and it was really easy. I will note that it is easy, just make sure you have the correct ingredients.
For starters, you will need chopped tomatoes, chopped onion, chopped jalapenos, and chopped cilantro.
Do not use substitutes. I thought I could get away with using chopped onion seasoning and cilantro paste and it was not the right decision.
As you can see mine (on the left) looks runny and gross so I ended up throwing it out. Lessons learned: 1. Use fresh ingredients when making fresh salsa. 2. Save yourself the time and go to your friend’s house!
Happy cooking! —Tara
